It seems like Facebook no longer wants to work with the messages app on the
mac, and someone recommended trillion, which I can't get to work either.
I've created an account with them, logged into it as well as Facebook, and it
refuses to work. Does anyone know of anything else that's usable?

i've had fb chat issues for a while on the windows side with miranda, and just
here recently, trillian and v o have stopt cooperating. it wont tell me where i'm
located in my contacts window or anything, just started this yesterday. I used
to do fb messages on iMessage until I remembered I had trillian, but for the
longest I was using adium and that fell off the face of fb months ago. so, I
really don't know what elce there is left, as i'm trying to find one myself
because I don't like using my phone just for fb chat and stuff, if i'm on my mac,
I want to be able to chat from the mac side and not have to switch to a damn
phone but it sure as hell sounding like that's what they are trying to force us to
do.

I know, I'm pretty much forced to do the same, and I hate it; I'm slow at typing
on my phone so it can be a pain in the neck trying to have a conversation with
someone

Dictation. Do a 2-finger double tap to start and stop dictating. That's what I do and it works great. I wish I could find an unclunky way for FB on the Mac. So far, Current seems to be the best one for use with VO.

Yeah, that will work. I checked yesterday again to see if a system restart would fix trillians problem and it didn't. I mean, yeah it connects to fb and everything but VO just says blank all the time for whatever reason.

There is a messenger for facebook app in the ap store, it isn't too bad all things considered. Voiceover reads stuff there pretty nicely. It is HTML based, but navigating it isn't too bad.

You all could buy a Bluetooth keyboard for your phones. That make this task a bit easier until the other is repaired?

From what I saw with trillian, I didn't know that they had an update to it just
before the start of the year until I looked in the app store installed apps. Like I
said, you can't read anything with voice over, no contact list, no status menu
items, nothing. I also tried the fb account in iMessage and it refuses to log in
because it says the password or email is wrong. And I have a bt keyboard but
again, I don't wanna switch to another device just to chat to somebody on fb, if
they would learn to leave crap alone, lol

Ok, will check out their messenger app on the mac side, and bluetooth
keyboards are nice if we all can afford them, but some of us are struggling just
to feed ourselves. I do use dictation, but not something I'd want to use if I'm
on paratransit,/riding in a car with someone.

You can get a bluetooth keyboard for your phone between 10 and 20 dollars on Ebay. Nevermind that $70 or whatever it is apple wants for there's. lol
